This Simchat Torah, we gather in joy, but also in solemn reflection, as we mark the contrast between last year’s celebration and the deep loss we now carry. As Ecclesiastes teaches us, there is “a time for weeping and a time for laughing, a time for wailing and a time for dancing” (Ecclesiastes 3). On this day, while we celebrate the Torah and the cycles of life, we also pause to honor the memories of those we’ve lost and recognize the ways in which we have been changed by the events of last year. In a special moment of spiritual commemoration, Abraham will share the personal story of his friends who were tragically murdered and kidnapped from the Nova Festival. Let us unite our community in remembrance, holding space for both the grief and the joy that shape our experiences. Join us for this poignant reflection, to be held on October 24th after services, approximately 1 PM.
